How we compare

Understand the choice, compare the shortlist, then read the evidence behind each recommendation.

Our sources

• Specifications: manufacturer and retailer listings, with the source noted under each product.
• Published reviews: short summaries of linked articles. Some report hands-on testing; others interpret specifications. Multiple links do not necessarily mean multiple independent tests.
• Owner experiences: where available, attributed summaries of public forum posts with source and licence links. These small, self-selected samples do not establish satisfaction or failure rates. We have not independently verified purchases.

How to read a recommendation

“Consider for” describes a possible fit within our shortlist. We consider capacity, controls, space, reported performance and practical drawbacks. A feature-based option is labelled when independent performance evidence is missing. We show conflicting findings and identify older models or different packages when they affect the comparison.

What we have checked

The guides are researched and written with AI assistance. We have not handled or tested these products ourselves. A “Checked” date records the stated availability check, not a fresh review of every source or a guarantee of stock. Review findings may concern an earlier revision.

“Listed by maker” means we found the named product and a purchase option on the manufacturer’s website. It does not guarantee checkout stock or delivery to your address. Where the page is ambiguous, we show “Not confirmed”.

Comparing different kinds of products

Robot-vacuum comparisons distinguish the robot, dock and generation. Air-purifier coverage uses the manufacturers’ stated 4.8-air-change figures where supplied; maximum airflow is not the same as quiet-mode performance. Calculations in our guides show their assumptions and are not measured ownership costs. Product rankings do not use commission rates.

Prices and shop links

We link to retailers for current prices, stock, seller details and purchase conditions. We do not currently display live prices, price-history charts, combined star ratings or summaries of retailer customer reviews. Check the exact model, included accessories and warranty before ordering.
