How to choose cordless vacuums

Start with your flooring, stairs and storage space. Then decide whether manual bin emptying is acceptable or an automatic emptying base is worth the extra space. Check runtime with the powered floor head, replacement batteries and the exact included tools.

01Choose the cleaning job

A stick vacuum handles dry debris and can convert for stairs and furniture. It does not replace a wet floor washer. For a carpet-heavy home, look for an exact-model carpet pickup test before assuming that motor power proves cleaning performance.

02Compare usable runtime

Ask how long the machine runs with its powered floor head at the setting you expect to use. A maximum figure measured with a non-powered attachment is not a whole-home cleaning promise. Check whether a spare battery is available for the exact model.

03Decide where it will live

Measure storage height and floor space, and check for a nearby outlet. A charging stand, folding wand and automatic emptying base solve different problems. Choose the arrangement you will actually keep ready to use.

04Allow for maintenance

Empty collected dirt, clear hair and clean filters as instructed. A compression lever reduces bulk but does not dispose of dust. An auto-empty base transfers debris to another container; it still needs attention.

05Check the exact package

Model suffixes and retailer bundles can change the floor heads, batteries and charging equipment. Compare the contents at the checkout destination before using a price difference to decide. The comparison includes a direct dock-versus-standalone choice.
