How to choose a high-speed blender

Start with your recipes: smoothies, ice, thick mixtures or purées. Compare published results for those jobs, along with jar size, controls and storage space.

Our shop links earn us nothing today: we have not joined an affiliate programme yet. When that changes, it still will not change which products we recommend. How this will work

01Power

Watts alone do not tell you how well a blender will perform. Look for published results with fibrous, frozen or thick ingredients that match your recipes.

02Container size and material

Match the usable capacity to your usual batch size and check the minimum amounts in the manual. Confirm the included jar, its material and whether replacement containers are available.

03Container shape

Jar shape can affect small batches, circulation and scraping. Compare results for the exact jar supplied, especially when reviews cover a different package.

04Height

Some classic high-speed models are over 20 inches tall with the container on and will not fit under standard wall cabinets. Shorter containers exist for that reason.

05Controls

A variable-speed dial offers direct control; presets automate a routine. Choose the controls you prefer and check whether a separate pulse function is included.

06Noise

High-speed blenders are loud. Some are markedly louder than others.

07Cleaning

Check the maker’s cleaning instructions. Some allow blending warm water with dish soap; that does not necessarily mean a dedicated cleaning preset. Handle removable blades as directed.

08Warranty

Check the warranty for the exact model, seller and country. Compare what is covered, the claim process and replacement parts; warranty length is not a promised lifespan.
